OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office will open its first precinct later this summer in Gretna, according to Sheriff Greg London.

The sheriff’s office has contracted law enforcement services for Gretna for 49 years, and the new precinct is the next step in the county’s partnership with the city, London said in a statement released Wednesday.

The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution Tuesday to lease space for the new precinct at 11910 Standing Stone Drive in Gretna.

“Our motto at the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office is honored to serve, and opening a west precinct is another way we can live out that promise in a quickly growing part of the county,” said London. “This is all about delivering service that’s second to none and I am exceptionally proud of our team who continually put service first.”

London said the plan is for staff and deputies who patrol west of 120th Street in Sarpy County, including Gretna, to be based out of the new precinct.

Previously, all staff worked from the main sheriff’s office at 84th Street and Platteview Road.
