Nebraska delegation hosts Military Service Academy recruitment event in Bellevue
BELLEVUE, Neb. (WOWT) - Nebraska’s federal delegation of senators and congressmen are co-hosting Military Service Academy Days across the state.
Today in Bellevue, high schoolers interested in attending a service academy after graduation got the run down about the application process.
They also learned about applying for a congressional nomination.
There were representatives from the U.S. Military, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, Naval, and Air Force Academies.
“My whole family has served, and so I knew I wanted to go a military academy. My dad served. He was a graduate at the Naval Academy,” Lincoln Southeast Junior River Hill said.
“It’s always been an option for me. Now that I’m in my junior year, applications are starting to open and it’s become a lot more real, and so I thought I’d get some information.”
This is the first of several Military Service Academy Days.
The next are in Norfolk, North Platte, Omaha, Grand Island, and Lincoln.
There is a virtual event in July.
