Omaha hospitals update number of injuries over Fourth of July weekend

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha hospitals shared updates on fireworks-related injuries they have received since Wednesday.

CHI Health said in their release that their Omaha Metro Emergency Rooms reported approximately 38 firework-related visits.

CHI Heath St. Elizabeth Emergency Room in Lincoln said Monday that they had treated a total of approximately 13 injuries.

CHI St. Elizabeth Burn Outpatient Clinic in Lincoln reported approximately 20 visits; some of these patients being referred from the ER.

Victims ranged from children to older adults. According to a spokesperson, injuries included minor wounds to major burns, as well as lacerations and soft tissue injuries.

As of July 4th, they reported only 36 injuries for their Omaha and Lincoln emergency centers. In their Friday release, they said that they expected the numbers to go up entering the holiday weekend.

Methodist Health shared that they have had a total of 16 patients in their emergency departments in Fremont, Omaha, and Council Bluffs.

They recorded injuries such as burns, abrasions, fractures, as well as an eye injury.
