2 dozen train cars derailed in southeastern Nebraska, officials say

The train cars involved in a derailment south of Union, Neb., on Tuesday were carrying non-hazardous chemicals, sources told 6 News.

UNION, Neb. (WOWT) - Up to two dozen train cars were involved in a derailment in southeastern Nebraska on Tuesday night, officials said.

The derailment happened near Highway 75 and Foster Lane, around three miles south of Union, Neb., near the line between Cass and Otoe counties.

6 News learned on the scene 22 train cars ended up on their side while a tanker went sliding into the nearby Wolf Creek. A source told 6 News the tank was carrying a non-hazardous chemical.

No injures have been reported in the incident.
