Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites heavily damaged by north Lincoln fire
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites in north Lincoln on Monday.
According to LFR, the fire was called to a fire and explosion at 6:50 p.m. near Superior Street and Industrial Avenue.
LFR Battalion Chief Jim Bopp said when firefighters arrived, flames could be seen. The fire was going up the outside of the building into the attic space.
A primary search was done on all three floors. After the third floor was searched, the roof began to collapse, and firefighters switched from an offensive to defensive strategy.
No injuries were reported due to the fire.
According to a reporter at the scene, the hotel was heavily damaged due to the fire, with most of the roof destroyed.
LFR said that other units were out of position due to two previous fires that had occurred on Monday.
