LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - Vice President JD Vance joined Nebraska politicians in extending their sympathies to Ben Sasse after he broke the news that he was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Sasse, a former U.S. senator from Nebraska, posted on social media Tuesday that he was diagnosed last week with stage-four pancreatic cancer and is not expected to live much longer. Responses came in from former colleagues and from Vance.

“It’s a death sentence,” he wrote at the top of an extended post reflecting on family, faith, and time. “... I’ve got less time than I’d prefer. This is hard for someone wired to work and build, but harder still as a husband and a dad.”
