Cop on a Rooftop raising money for Special Olympics
Local law enforcement are coming together at 22 different Dunkin’ Donuts locations to raise funds for Special Olympics Iowa.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Dunkin’ Donuts customers may have had an unusual experience while getting their morning coffee as police officers from across the state were collecting donations from the cafe’s roof.
It’s the 9th annual Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser for Special Olympics Iowa. They hope to raise up to $40,000 by noon to help fund events and support Special Olympics athletes.
“I think it’s a great partnership, we do it a couple times a year, it’s for a good cause,” Officer Josh Carter with the Cedar Rapids Police Department said. “It puts smiles on people’s faces.”
Special Olympics Iowa organizers say it’s a great opportunity to spread awareness for their group.
“Every dollar raised, every person that meets a new athlete or sees the law enforcement raises a little more awareness for Special Olympics,” Sydney Sloan, director of competitions with Special Olympics Iowa, said. “That money gets kicked right back into our competitions that we host year-round.”
Everybody who donates will get a free donut, donations of more than $10 come with a free coffee.
Officers will be at 22 Dunkin’ Donuts locations across Iowa until noon. Here is a list of those locations.
