Mark Miller had a goal and assist and Kevin Schulze added a pair of assists as the Lancers hung on for a 4-3 victory over Sioux Falls Friday night at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
A shot by Schulze bounced off the post, but the puck was put in by Kenney Morrison at the 4:00 mark of the first period. The Stampede tied it just :37 later when a rebound off Lancer goaltender Thatcher Demko was swatted in by Bryan Moore.
Omaha regained the lead with less than five minutes remaining in the period on the power play when Miller scored his ninth of the season.
Sioux Falls tied it at 2-2 seven minutes into the second period when a blocked shot by Todd Skirving led to a breakaway and Skirving’s 15th goal of the season. The Stampede then went ahead 3-2 at 13:07 on Kyle Rankin's 15th of the season.
The Lancers evened the score on Nolan Zajac's goal at 14:10 of the second and took the lead for good as Eli Lichtenwald redirected Schulze’s feed into the net at 15:39.
