New NU coach Mike Riley proved to be the main talking point at Nebraska football's 2015 Fan Day. The line to meet him ended in a place where he hopes to see his team often this season; the end zone.
"We've talked about it before. The greatest fans in America and it's just one more example," Riley said.
An estimated 7,000 estimated fans poured into Memorial Stadium for the team's annual event, getting a chance to meet the new head Husker.
Fans covered a lot of ground here at Memorial Stadium, getting autographs and pictures with players and coaches. They did it all in about an hour and a half, but spent much more time outside trying to make sure they go this special moment.
"We got here about 12 or 12:30. It's like your first look at the new team," Jami Love said. "Everybody's so excited for all the autographs and we have a new head coach this year, so that's really exciting."
One NU fan has a tie to Oregon State, but he's happy to see that new coach in Husker red.
"My daughter is from Lincoln and she went out to Oregon State to go to college," John Moehlenhoff said. "My wife and I would go out to watch one of coach Riley's games. I don't think you could go wrong with the choice Shawn Eichorst made. I think we're going to have a pretty good year."
