A former Bellevue East High School teacher is facing misdemeanor charges for allegedly engaging in sexually explicit communications with a minor.
Joseph Blackstad was employed as a teacher at Bellevue East when the School Resource Officer received information about the case. That prompted an investigation that led to a search warrant.
That warrant resulted in a forensic examination of electronic communication devices that Blackstad owned. Bellevue Police say Blackstad's cell phone revealed evidence that led to the charges.
Specifically, those charges are two misdemeanor counts of Child Abuse and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child. Blackstad was issued a citation and released on his signature.
