Two to three inches of rain fell on parts of the warned area Sunday night and an additional one to two inches of rain may occur. Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to occur and may make current flooding of the Missouri River worse.
Locations that will experience flooding include the towns of Clarinda, Coin, Farragut, Hamburg, Nebraska City, Riverton, Shenandoah and Sidney. The warned area includes Interstate 29 in Iowa between mile markers 10 and one.
National Weather Service meteorologists confirmed a tornado nine miles southwest of Coin Sunday night. No word of injuries or damage.
There is another chance for strong to severe storms Monday evening.
