Omaha police say they arrested 28 suspected drunk drivers during a recent enhanced enforcement effort. The enforcement was between March 13 & 21 with St. Patrick’s Day in the middle.
Of the 28 arrests, 22 were for a first offense, one was for a second offense, four was for a felony offense, and one driver was using a Provisional Operator’s Permit.
One of the suspects refused the breath test. Police noted that five had an open container.
During the effort, police found other driving violations. They issued 299 tickets for speeding, 47 for registration or insurance violations, 109 for moving violations, 13 for seatbelt violations, 18 for careless or negligent driving, 12 for driving with a suspended license, one for a minor in possession of alcohol, five for possessing marijuana less than an ounce, five for possessing drug equipment, and four people had an outstanding warrant.
