The military says some crew members were treated for smoke inhalation Thursday evening after their jet made an emergency stop on the runway at Offutt Air Force Base in Sarpy County.
The RC-135V/W Rivet Joint aircraft was stopped about 6:30 p.m. before it could leave on a local training flight. There were 27 crew members on board but none of them suffered serious injuries.
Base firefighters put out a fire inside the fuselage of the four-engine jet, which is configured for intelligence and reconnaissance missions. The fire cause and the extent of repairs needed are being investigated.
