LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) -- Husker wide receiver Brandon Reilly was ticketed early Friday morning for driving under the influence at nearly double the legal limit.
An officer saw a black 2007 Hyundai Sonata going 5 mph over the speed limit northbound on I-180 early Friday morning around 2:11 am. The vehicle then turned onto Superior Street without signaling the turn. When the officer initiated the traffic stop, they noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle being driven by 22-year-old Brandon Reilly.
A field sobriety test was performed at the scene before he was transported to The Bridge for formal testing. Reilly's blood alcohol content measured .150 or nearly double the legal limit. He was cited with first offense DUI, negligent driving, and failure to signal. Reilly was released to a sober friend who was called to pick up Reilly and a passenger.
Reilly just wrapped up his junior season as a Husker wide receiver, in which he caught 40 passes for 754 yards and four touchdowns. Reilly caught the game-winning score in Nebraska's upset of Michigan State in early November. The Huskers are currently in the middle of spring practices in Lincoln.
