Sen. Chuck Grassley received recognition Monday from a national law enforcement group for supporting the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Visiting program.
The program is designed to promote child health and abuse prevention among at-risk families.
The group, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, recognized Grassley for his “continued support for investments in programs that reduce child abuse and neglect and lower crime.”
Congress approved an extension of the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Visiting program in the doctor payment legislation approved earlier this year. Grassley supported the program beginning in the Finance Committee, which has jurisdiction.
Grassley, Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee, is former Chairman and Ranking Member of the Finance Committee. He is a long-time advocate for children’s welfare.
