LEADERS
Ben Palensky raked up three hits and a double, while Breyden Eckhout, Parker Smejkal and Keil Krumwiede each had two hits. Krumwiede and Smejkal also notched a double apiece.

On the mound, Payton Kinney tossed 8.0 innings and improved to 5-0 on the season with nine strikeouts, three walks and one run allowed on five hits. The senior saw his scoreless inning streak of 28 consecutive innings snapped with Purdue Fort Wayne's one run in the fourth. In relief, Tyler Daugherty had a pair of strikeouts in the ninth.

Purdue Fort Wayne's Chase Phelps falls to 1-4 overall with four strikeouts, four runs allowed, three earned and 11 hits.

INSIDE THE INNINGS
Omaha got on the board in the bottom of the second when Smejkal singled to shortstop and scored Krumwiede from third. Two innings later, the Mastodons evened it up with a single down the right field line that plated one run with the bases loaded.

The Mavericks went up 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth after DeBonville struck out swinging, but made it to first on a passed ball. That brought up Smejkal, who doubled to right and scored DeBonville. The lead went to 3-1 in the sixth on a DeBonville single-RBI that plated Krumwiede.

Later on in the seventh, Matt Bondarchuk launched a single to left field and scored Braden Rogers, which made it 4-1 Mavericks. The final two Omaha runs came in the bottom of the eighth, where Rogers advanced Palensky from third to home on a sacrifice fly, followed by a Purdue Fort Wayne wild pitch with the bases loaded that brought home Smejkal.
