Olympic gold-medalist swimmer Katie Ledecky visits Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- Five-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky, 22, visited Omaha on Wednesday and talked with WOWT Sports Director Ross Jernstrom about next year's USA Olympic Swim Trials.

Ledecky said she was thrilled to make her third trip to Omaha for the swim trials:

Ledecky: "We love coming to Omaha for Olympic Trials, it's the place that we associate with Olympics Trials now. It's going to be my third Olympics Trials here in Omaha — it's the fourth time Omaha has hosted Olympic Trials — so there is a level of familiarity with this venue, with the people, and I have always had just great experiences here."

Ross: What does your family think when they come here because they are in Omaha as much as you are?

Ledecky: "Yeah they love it I have a family a big family and they are from all over the U.S., but a lot of them are from the Midwest, my grandmother's from North Dakota, relatives in Montana, I told my grandmother I was coming out here this week, today, to be in Omaha and get people excited for Trials, and I was telling her when tickets go on sale, because I am sure about 50 or 60 of my relatives will be back here again next year so."

The USA Olympic Swim Trials will be June 21-28, 2020, at the CHI Health Center. Tickets will go on sale to the public on July 1.
