FIRST ANNUAL OMAHA SPORTS COMMISSION AWARDS (OSCAS) TO RECOGNIZE TOP AMATEUR ATHLETES, TEAMS AND SPORTS EVENTS OF THE PAST YEAR
OSCAS WILL ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET MAY 30 AT HOLLAND PERFORMING ARTS CENTER – TICKETS NOW ON SALE

Omaha, Neb. – A red carpet walk, seven new Omaha sports awards and the induction of the 2019 Omaha Sports Hall of Fame will make the first annual Omaha Sports Commission Awards (OSCAs) a special night in the city. The May 30, 2019 OSCAs will be held at the Holland Performing Arts Center and tickets for this unique evening are now on sale at www.omahasports.org/oscas.
Josh Todd, president and executive director of the Omaha Sports Commission, said a special committee has been working for months to identify the following sports awards categories:

• Female Omaha Amateur Athlete of the Year
• Male Omaha Amateur Athlete of the Year
• Omaha Sports Team of the Year
• Omaha Coach of the Year
• Omaha Sports Moment of the Year
• Steve Pivovar Sports Media Person of the Year
• Dr. Jack Lewis Sports Person of the Year

“We want to make the OSCAs a very special evening for the Omaha sports community and that is why we are abandoning the traditional dinner event format and doing a fast paced, exciting award show theme,” Todd said. “In addition to recognizing the top amateur athletes, personalities and sports events in the city, we also will celebrate the induction of the latest Omaha Sports Hall of Fame class announced earlier this month.”
The 2019 Omaha Sports Hall of Fame class includes athletes Angee Henry Nott (track and field) and Andre Woolridge (basketball), wrestling coach Brad Hildebrandt and the undefeated 1989 Millard South boys basketball team.

Todd said sponsorship opportunities for the OSCAs are available and the public is encouraged to be a part of the evening. He said tickets are $55 and include the red carpet walk, drinks/hors d’oeuvres reception and awards presentation. Tickets are available at www.omahasports.org/oscas and information on sponsorship opportunities can be directed to josh@omahasports.org.
