– No. 20 North Dakota got a goal with 1:50 left in the third period to beat the Omaha hockey team, 4-3, on Friday night in the series opener at Baxter Arena.
Jackson Keane finished off a pass from Collin Adams to complete a three-point night and dash the comeback hopes of the Mavericks who had trailed 3-1 in the game.
The loss drops the Mavericks to 6-13-1 overall and 2-8-1-0/1 in the NCHC while UND, with its third straight win, improved to 12-9-1 overall land 6-5-0-0/0 in the conference.
UND’s Jasper Weatherby tipped in a pass from Keane just as a power play expired to put the Fighting Hawks up 3-1 at 3:40 of the second period.
But the Mavericks, who went 2-for-4 on the power play, drew to within one when Zach Jordan’s centering pass hit Ryan Galt and bounced in past goalie Adam Scheel.
