Husker Recruit Wins Colorado 5A State Title

Nebraska football recruit Luke McCaffrey led Valor Christian to the Colorado Class 5A State Championship on Saturday. It was the school's eighth state title in the last ten years.

Valor Christian defeated Cherry Creek 24-14 at Broncos Stadium at Mile High on Saturday. Valor Christian finished with a 14-0 record.

After the game McCaffrey talked about winning the State Title to KUSA. McCaffrey said: "It was a blast we came in, we knew we had the players the scheme just to execute and have fun, that is what all of us did, we had a lot of guys step up, you saw we had Jack Howell score two touchdowns all over the place he is one of the guys to come in and step it up, we had the o line moving around come in and move it both ways, it was something awesome to watch all these guys step up throughout the season. I don't think there is nothing else to prove we put it all out there, we played our game every week even though we had a lot of haters, a lot of guys who did not choose us every week, we hear it, we did not ignore it, we used it as motivation each week, week in and week out, it as something awesome to watch us all come out here and be able to glorify God."
