Nebraska Rolls Past Maryland 54-7

LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) -- The losing streak is over. After losing four games in a row, Nebraska rolled past Maryland 54-7. Quarterback Adrian Martinez completed 16-25 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Martinez also ran for
94 yards and scored a touchdown. Nebraska kept their bowl hopes alive with a 5-and-6 record.The Huskers need to beat Iowa next Friday to become bowl eligible .

Nebraska travels to College Park, Md., to take on the Maryland Terrapins in the Huskers last road game of 2019.

Good afternoon everyone! This is WOWT Sports Director Ross Jernstrom. I will be giving you updates and opinions on the matchup between Nebraska and Maryland today.

The big question is the weather. There are cloudy skies in College Park, Maryland right now. The forecast is for showers starting in the first quarter and continuing throughout the game. Temperatures are in the mid-40's and the wind is about 5mph.

KOLN Sports Director Kevin Sjuts says Harrison Martin hasn’t played in a football game since 2014. Today, he’ll suit up for the #Huskers at Maryland. Walk-on kicker from Lincoln. Senior UNL student, Martin attended a mid-season tryout. Recently added to active roster.

The Huskers are doing warm-ups on the field. This is Nebraska's first trip ever to the state of Maryland. Thousands of Husker alumni and Big Red Fans have made the trip from DC area to be here for the game today.

Nebraska takes kickoff and will start from the 16 yard line.
Incomplete pass. Pass complete to 20 yard line. Martinez gets first down at 26 yard line. GOOD RUN!
Pass to Spielman to 37 . Incomplete pass. Timeout to Maryland. Another incomplete pass. Martinez scrambles for 9 yards, but the Huskers will have to punt. Maryland takes over at the 11 yard line.

BIG Play! The Huskers force a fumble and Dismuke recovers it at the 15 yard line. One play later Dedrick Mills scores a touchdown to make it 7-0 with 11:50 left in the first quarter.

Husker defense holds. Maryland puts the ball away and Spielman takes it back to the 23 yard line. So far so good.
