Creighton beats Marquette to open Big East play

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- The Creighton Bluejays beat Marquette Wednesday at the CHI Health Center when they opened up play within the Big East for the season by a final of 92 to 75.

Mitch Ballock scored 24 to lead the Bluejays. Ty-Shon Alexander also scored 21.

Markus Howard came into the game leading the nation in scoring at 26.3 ppg. Creighton's defense held him to a quiet 18 points Wednesday.

This was Creighton's eighth consecutive win. The team is now 12-2.

The Bluejays next game is at Butler on Saturday, January 4.
