Shooting victim crashes into school bus, arrested on warrant

Omaha police worked through a chaotic scene Wednesday involving a shooting victim and a crash in a Montclair neighborhood.

Officers first responded to a report of shots fired at 3234 N. 39th Street. Witnesses told police a victim driving a red car had been shot at while in the driveway of 3235 N. 39th Street. After the suspect vehicle fled the area the shooting victim, later identified as 25-year-old Jestun Haynie, pulled out of the driveway.

Haynie was later was involved in an accident with a school bus at 30th and Hamilton Street. Haynie was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

After being released from the hospital, Haynie was booked into Douglas County Corrections for traffic violations related to the accident and an unrelated misdemeanor warrant.

OPS officials said five students were on the bus at the time of the collision. None of the students were injured.

OPS students were transferred to a different bus. The school's principal did notify the students' parents.
