OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - More information was released about the construction accident that sent two men to the hospital on Monday.
Contractors were working on an apartment building near 48th and Dodge when a boom lift came into contact with a power line.
The men injured when the boom hit the electrical lines have been identified as Alex Cooper, 25, and Freddie Maldonado, 33.
A witness told officers that arrived on the scene that when the boom truck made contact with a power line, one of the men was ejected from the basket and fell about four stories to the ground. The other man involved was on the roof.
According to UNMC and officers, Cooper is being treated for burns and a head injury and Maldonado is being treated for being shocked. Cooper was transferred to the burn center in Lincoln and is in critical condition.
The police report indicates the men were working for Ronco Construction.
The incident shut down portions of Dodge St. for a while on Monday, and power was cut to the area temporarily.
