Waste Management's pilot program ends this week

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) Waste Management’s pilot program testing automated solid waste and recyclable collection is coming to an end this week.

The pilot began last November and included 2,500 residents. Residents that were part of the pilot program are now asked to put both carts out on collection days.

After this week, all citizens return to using 32 gallon cans for trash, green bins for recycling and paper bags or 32-gallon cans for yard waste. All residents are asked to separate their yard waste and garbage.

This summer a series of public meeting will be held to solicit input for the city’s next solid waste contract.
