Vintage tractors destroyed in barn fire

CASS COUNTY, Neb. A three alarm fire in Cass County (Nebraska) over the weekend destroyed about a dozen vintage tractors.

According to the Cassgram, Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department received mutual aid help from Murray, Offutt AFB, and Louisville fire departments for a barn fire around 5:10 Saturday evening.

Firefighters had to deal with issues such as power lines above the structure, access to the barn and getting water to the location and keeping the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

Fire Chief Mike Wilson said there were about a dozen antique tractors in the barn that burned to the ground. The fire did get into the upper part of another barn but firefighters were successful in saving that structure.
A state fire marshal investigator believes the fire was started by an electrical problem in the barn.
