Tree removal begins at Gene Leahy Mall

Crews were at Gene Leahy Mall Wednesday morning removing trees as work on the redevelopment project began in earnest.

Part of a larger revitalization plan, the Gene Leahy Mall area will be transformed into a large green space that includes gardens, a dog park, a sculpture garden, a performance pavilion, water features, as well as sitting and walking spaces.
The new space is set to open by the end of 2021.
