Omaha police conducted a traffic stop on Friday afternoon that led to a homicide investigation and an arrest for first-degree murder.

According to a press release, officers pulled over a car that was driving recklessly in the area of 90th and Bedford at 3:24 p.m. Friday.

The driver fled on foot, and the officers pursued Jeremiah Connelly, 39, and took him into custody.

Officers determined the vehicle had been stolen and questioned Connelly, where he mentioned an unrelated death.

Homicide investigators found a deceased woman near Fremont. She has been identified as Jeanna Wilcoxen, 22.

Investigators booked Connelly into Douglas County Corrections on Saturday for first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, theft-unlawful taking and willful reckless driving.
