Suspect arrested in connection to Old Market shooting

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- Omaha Police have arrested a suspect in connection to the Old Market shooting that killed Jasmine Harris, 20.

Markese Davis, 20, has been booked for Felony Probation Violation and Possession of a Gun by a Prohibited Person. Davis was not booked for Harris' murder. Police say their investigation is ongoing.

Investigators say the incident began as a fight Saturday night involving 20 juveniles. Gang Unit officers and uniform officers used pepper balls to break up the fight. Not far from the brawl, police said two rival gang members opened fire.

Officers were on scene just seconds after the "shots fired" report at 11:45 p.m. Officers responded to the scene at 11th and Farnam where they found Harris suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. Six other people were injured.
