Slick conditions contribute to deadly crash in Iowa

UNION COUNTY, Iowa (WOWT) -- One person was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Union County, Iowa early Sunday afternoon.

Investigators say that Emily Haidsiak, 21, of Creston, Iowa was traveling west on Highway 34 around 12:15 P.M. and lost control of her Dodge Pickup on the snow and slush. The truck crossed the centerline into eastbound traffic and collided with a Chrysler Minivan.

The driver of the minivan died at the scene. The victim's identity was withheld pending notification of relatives.

Haidsiak and an infant passenger in the pickup were treated for injuries and both are expected to recover.
