Sioux City school bus driver cited afer colliding with a laundromat

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- A Sioux City school bus driver has been cited after crashing his bus into a laundromat Wednesday.

KTIV reports that James Fields, 62, was headed north of Floyd Boulevard around 2 p.m. when he cut across the southbound lanes and the bus banged a hole into the building.

No kids were aboard at the time. No one was hurt.

Fields said he was checking the time on his phone when he fell out of his seat, lost control and crashed.

He was issued one citation for failure to maintain control and another for using an electronic device while driving.

The bus was damaged to the tune of $8,000. The building took at $15,000 hit.
