Rusty's Forecast - Windy Valentine's Day, Snowy weekend ahead.

By  |

Partly to mostly cloudy skies are likely this evening and overnight as temperatures slowly cool from the 30s into the 20s by Thursday morning. Winds will be very light all night as well.

Valentine's day will be a little backwards with the high temps occurring around mid morning in the lower 30s. Strong northwest wind will then kick in sending temps falling the rest of the day. Gusts up to 45 mph will drop temps into the 20s during the afternoon with teens likely by the evening. This sets the stage for a colder weekend.

Friday is the first of 3 ALERT DAYS due to snow potential. Snow is likely as early as 9am in the metro lasting through most of the afternoon. 1-3" of accumulation is likely in the metro with heavier amounts expected to the southwest of the city. Luckily the winds will be fairly light all day. I do expect impacts to the evening commute though.

More snow is likely from a second system starting later afternoon Saturday lasting into the morning Sunday. ALERT DAYS are in place both those days as well as accumulation and impacts are likely.
