Rusty's Forecast - Rain chances return midweek

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) A beautiful afternoon across the area as sunny skies and southwesterly breezes helped to warm us into the middle and upper 70s. Temperatures will remain mild this evening even as some high and mid level clouds being to build in. Temperatures will only fall to around 70 degrees by 9pm. An isolated shower or storm is possible this evening, mainly north of the metro. If any storms are able to develop, coverage will be limited and they will not last long. Clouds will thicken up some overnight, but mainly dry conditions are expected with temperatures falling to around 50 by morning.

We should see more sunshine Tuesday morning, but a few more clouds will move in by midday, which will likely keep temperatures a few degrees cooler than what we saw today. However highs will still top out in the middle 70s, so it will be another enjoyable day. As an area of low pressure begins to form off to our west, a few storms may develop in the evening, with the highest chance being north of I-80. An isolated strong storm is possible. The chance for an isolated thunderstorm will continue through the overnight, with temperatures falling to around 58 in the metro.

A strong area of low pressure will move into eastern Nebraska on Wednesday. Ahead of that low, we will see south to southwest winds and mild temperatures. Highs will likely climb into the low and mid 70s once again. A cold front will swing through by mid-afternoon, bringing with it a chance for showers and storms. A few strong to severe storms are possible, but the highest risk for severe weather appears to have shifted a bit further to the east and south of the area. Nonetheless, pay attention to future forecasts as this system approaches the area. Once the cold front moves through, temperatures will fall into the 40s with scattered showers lasting into Thursday morning. Breezy and cooler conditions are expected on Thursday with highs only in the middle 50s.

Warmer weather will return for the weekend with highs in the 70s to near 80 on Saturday. Easter Sunday looks mild with highs in the 70s and a chance for some showers or storms by evening.
