OMAHA, Ned. (WOWT) Strong northwest winds blasted into the area today behind a cold front. Winds gusted as high as 47mph early this morning in Omaha, with many locations seeing gusts over 40mph at times through the day. Winds will remain breezy this evening and even into the overnight with occasional gusts of 25 to 35mph. Temperatures still warmed well above normal into the middle 40s despite the northwest winds. This evening, cooler temperatures will move in, with readings falling to around 34 degrees by 10pm.
Overnight, winds will let up some, but we could still see occasional gusty conditions. Temperatures should drop into the middle and lower 20s by Wednesday morning under clear skies. More sunshine is expected on Wednesday, but temperatures will be cooler than the last few days with highs only in the middle 30s. Clouds will increase in the afternoon, but dry weather is expected through the day.
Temperatures will recover back into the 40s for Thursday and Friday with partly to mostly sunny skies. Another push of cold air will arrive this weekend, along with a chance for a wintry mix. A storm system will spin by well to our south Friday night into Saturday, but may be close enough to send a light wintry mix our direction beginning late Friday and lasting into Saturday. Right now it appears the best chance for any accumulating snow will be to our south, but this will be a forecast to watch over the coming days.
