Police looking for bandits in black linked to pair of crimes

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- Omaha Police are trying to identify the armed robbers who hit a pair of targets Wednesday firing shots on the way out of one.

At 8:15 p.m., police were called to the Roadway Inn at 78th and Dodge to investigate a report of shots fired.

An employee told them that two men dressed in black came into the lobby, showed guns and demanded money. The crooks took cash from the register and fired shots as they left the building.

Authorities believe that holdup was related to an attempted robbery earlier in the day.

At 2:50 p.m. officers were called to the PayDay Express at 101 S. 39th Street to investigate an attempted robbery. An employee told investigators that a man wearing all black came into the building, pointed a gun and demanded money.

The robbery went south when the employee crouched down behind the counter and the suspect left.
