Police ID shooting victim from complex crime scene

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- Omaha Police have identified the victim of a Tuesday morning shooting as Patrick Peirce, 28. He is recovering while police sort through a complex crime scene.

Officers were initially called to an apartment near 47th and Lafayette around 4:15 A.M. to investigate a home invasion. The reporting party told them that two men forced their way into his apartment, showed a gun and asked for a person who wasn't there. The intruders left.

As the officers were investigating that incident they were flagged down by someone who said his friend had been shot at a residence nearby. That's where they found Peirce. He had been shot several times and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He is expected to recover.

Witnesses told police that someone had knocked on the door. When it was opened, two men came in demanding drugs and money. Price was shot. Officers said they found evidence of narcotics use at the scene.

In addition, while officer were investigating the shooting they found an unresponsive man in the driver's seat of a van behind the apartment building. Police say he was possibly suffering the effects of narcotics use. He was transported to the hospital for treatment in serious condition.
