Police dodge hail of debris tossed from fleeing suspect's stolen ride

Nails in Street
Police crafted their way through a barrage of screws, nails and a lunch box tossed from the window of a pickup truck they were chasing in Council Bluffs Friday morning before the driver gave them the slip and headed toward Omaha.

The metal-peppered pursuit unfolded around 5:45 a.m. near 11th and 17th Avenue. Police collected tossed evidence from the pavement.

The truck turned out to be stolen and it turned up on fire at 26th and Farnam in Omaha – a blackened blue Dodge with no driver in sight.
