Some homes along Highway 75 have been overcome by flood water in Plattsmouth.
Roger Schmidt and his wife currently have water seeping into their basement.
Roger has been trying to keep it at bay since this morning.
"Since 3 a.m. this morning we've been trying to sandbag and dike up the road. None of that worked," said Roger.
In downtown Plattsmouth, people are gathering by the Platte Rivers edge to see the water rise.
"It' incredible," says Plattsmouth resident Richard Erickson, "never seen anything like this I'm not a native of Plattsmouth but been here a few years and it's the most I've ever seen. It's a stunning amount of water."
Tracey Christensen has lived near downtown Plattsmouth since the '90s. He sits high up on a hill and can see the damage the floods have done.
"The water has risen quite a bit. It's starting to get bad. I've never seen it like this," said Christensen.
The plant has been shut down keep damage from getting worse. We're told some stores have run out of bottled water.
