Mick Manley is hoping to inspire people to spend one hour every day giving back to the community.
Manley came up with the idea a few months ago after his father died. He told WOWT 6 News: "I made the commitment to give one hour of my time for 365 consecutive days for the betterment of Omaha."
Manley's mission has a social media hashtag: #OneHour. Among his one hour volunteer activities: cleaning the graves of fallen veterans, picking up litter, serving meals to the homeless, even handing out free bus passes.
Manley told WOWT 6 News: "There are a lot of different things you can do that don't necessarily involve committing to a non-profit in the area. There are things you can do on your own."
Manley hopes to inspire others in the Metro to help out however and whomever they can - every day - for just one hour. He said: "If one hour was donated by every person, it could make a big difference and generate what would be the equivalent of weeks or months of workers' time."
