One injured when semi trucks collide on Interstate 80 in Iowa

POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY, Iowa (WOWT) - One person was injured when two semi trucks collided on Interstate 80 Sunday morning.

The crash happened at 8:30 a.m. between the Shelby and Avoca exits in Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol said that one semi was attempting to pass another when it struck the slower semi, damaging the passenger side of one semi and the driver side of the other.

The passing semi ended up in the ditch and the other on the shoulder.

The 60-year-old driver of the semi attempting to pass was flown to the hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The other driver was not injured.

There is no word on if anyone will be charged in the crash.
