University of Iowa officials on Tuesday released the name of the student who died in a fire at a university-owned apartment last Friday. Twenty-two-year-old Jiaxin Duan was a fourth-year art major.

Authorities responded to a report of an explosion at the Hawkeye Drive Apartments three miles west of campus about 4:30 p.m. The State Fire Marshal's Office is still investigating the cause of the fire. Autopsy results are not yet complete.

Duan's mother also lived in the apartment and is receiving help from the American Red Cross and the university.

The fire was contained to one apartment in the building. All other tenants were allowed back into their units Friday night.
