OPD investigating string of carjackings

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Police said that three carjackings and one purse snatching happened in the Omaha metro within five days of each other.

Every instance involved a female victim who was exiting their vehicle.

OPD said detectives recovered one vehicle, but are still looking for the other two.

One of the missing vehicles is a white, 2018, four-door Kia Optima with Colorado plate 335QHN.

The other vehicle is a silver, 2005 Honda Pilot with Nebraska plate VNE062.

One carjacking and purse theft happened near 36th and Corby, another car theft happened near N. 66th and Fowler and the purse snatching happened near Westridge Dr. and B St. The third carjacking report was unavailable.

At least one victim stated the carjacker was armed.

Police encourage individuals to be aware of their surroundings and to park in well-lit and populated areas.
