A would-be bandit made off a few moments of his victim's time Saturday morning - nothing more.
Shortly after 9 a.m. police responded to a panic alarm at the Payday Express in the 100 block of South 39th where an employee told them about the man with the gun.
According to the witness, the armed man demanded cash. The witness told the aspiring thief that the safe wasn't open yet. The gunman left.
The failed bandit, wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt, black rimmed glasses and dark pants, was last seen heading north of 39th Street.
