No bond for accused killer

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- A judge denied bond Wednesday for Anthony Sanchez, accused of killing Franco Gonzalez-Mendez last July.

In addition to the homicide he is also accused of assaulting Edgar Gonzalez-Mendez

Omaha Police said Monday that Sanchez, 20, was arrested in Crete, Nebraska.

The incident happened on July 15, 2018. Officers working off-duty at Guaca Maya, 5002 South 33rd Street, heard gunshots nearby and located the two victims just north of the location. They were both taken to the hospital in critical condition. Franco Gonzalez-Mendez was declared dead on arrival.

Sanchez is charged with First Degree Murder; two counts of Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony and First Degree Assault. He faces a preliminary hearing in February.
