New information released on fatal bicycle accident

POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY, Iowa (WOWT) - The Pottawattamie County Sheriff said a person has come forward who said they hit something in the area where a bicyclist was struck and killed early Saturday morning.

The fatal accident happened at Old Lincoln Highway and Northline Dr. around 2:25 a.m.

Deputies located a man who had serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The Sheriff's Office said that on Saturday a person contacted them saying they had information about the accident. They admitted to being in the area and hitting something.

The person's vehicle was seized as evidence and damage was discovered on the vehicle.

The name of the person has not been released as they have not been charged at this time.

The identity of the bicyclist is under investigation. Officials said the name will be released when the person is identified and family is notified.
