After more than 13 years at WOWT, Malorie Maddox is opening a new chapter in her career. She’s decided to leave broadcasting and the odd hours that come with it so that she can spend more time with her family.

She says, “I am honored so many people let me share their stories, and the opportunity I’ve had to be involved in our community. Now it’s time to say goodbye to that role. My husband and my son are my world. I am ready to be home at night with them.”

We’re going to miss Malorie on the anchor desk but we wish her the best when she takes on a new role at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska.

Join us in the coming days as we celebrate her time here at WOWT. We’ll look back at some of the thousands of stories she’s reported on and the many lives she’s touched.

You can also visit Malorie’s

to hear more about her news and wish her well.

Her last day at 6 News will be Thursday, March 22nd.

Malorie Maddox leaving WOWT after 13 1/2 Years

WOWT FAMILY. After more than 13 ½ years on the 6 News anchor desk, our Malorie Maddox is turning a new page in her career. Malorie has never been just an anchor. Storytelling was always her passion. She has reported on thousands of stories. But beyond the desk, she spent her career volunteering at hundreds of events in the community. She gave up weekends to emcee and speak at non-profit events and sat on community boards. But for all of us who know her, we know the most important part of Malorie’s life is her family. She has accepted a new job at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska as Vice President of Communications. This will allow her to be home with her husband Greg and her son Moss at night. Malorie’s last night on the desk will be next Thursday at 10. Please help us say thank you to Malorie. She always recognized it was never about her story, but always about yours.
