Nebraska National Guardsman faces charges for taking video of teen

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- A full-time Nebraska National Guard Master Sergeant stood before a Douglas County judge Tuesday.

Matthew Rouse, 37, is charged with two counts of portraying a child in an obscene way. He’s accused of driving from Lincoln to Omaha for sex in motels with a 16 year old girl.

Though 16 is the age of consent in Nebraska, Rouse allegedly took video of the sex acts and sent them to the victim’s cell phone. That is a crime.

Bond for Rouse was set at 10 percent of $250,000.

In a statement to WOWT6 News a Nebraska National Guard spokesman said Rouse has been placed on leave.

Lt.Colonel. Kevin Hynes said, “The Nebraska National Guard takes incidents of this nature extremely seriously and we are actively cooperating with local law enforcement officers in their investigation. The Nebraska National Guard will take whatever actions are deemed necessary to maintain good order and discipline."
