June 12 COVID-19 update: 153 cases, 2 deaths in Douglas County; 2 deaths in Sarpy
Here is a summary of new cases and other COVID-19 stats reported Friday by health officials across Nebraska & Iowa.
The Sarpy/Cass County Health Department has reported its sixth and seventh death related to COVID-19.
The residents were in their 70s with underlying health conditions. One was male and one was female.
The Nebraska National Guard has identified a total of 10 soldiers positive for COVID-19 following the Omaha protests.
The Guard is in the process of testing more than 600 soldiers and airmen who served in Lincoln and Omaha at the peaceful demonstrations.
Those who test positive are self-isolating at home.
The Three Rivers Public Health Department has announced its new total COVID-19 cases is now 711.
Dodge County has 616 cases, Saunders County has 57, and Washington County has 38 cases.
The Pottawattamie County Public Health Department has reported 31 new cases. One is from Crescent and one is from Walnut. The rest are from Council Bluffs.
The Pott. County total is now at 523.
The Douglas County Health Department has released early COVID-19 numbers for Friday.
The department has reported 153 new cases, bringing the total number in the county to 5,586.
The county is also reporting 2 additional deaths. Both were women over 65 with underlying conditions. Douglas County has had 57 total deaths.
