One dead in officer-involved shooting at Siena Francis House
Multiple injuries and one death was reported at the Siena Francis house Wednesday afternoon.
Omaha Police confirm the situation was an officer-involved shooting. They say three people were cut and the suspect shot.
Deputy Scott Gray tells 6 News, "No officers were injured in this incident."
Shortly after police arrived on scene they called for a hostage negotiator as they believed the suspect was still inside the building.
A witness and friend of the suspect, John, tells 6 News he saw the whole thing go down.
"He ended up pulling out a knife, cutting a couple women. Stabbed two ladies and ran inside and went to the door. he went to the back and into a room and took her hostage in the closet. He put a knife to her neck," said John.
The mother of the suspects unborn baby, Ceaira Oliver was also on the scene.
"From what I heard he stabbed a few people and the police shot him because he was holding staff in the building..."
Omaha police confirmed that the suspect was shot and killed by an OPD officer.
"I wish the cops would have handled it better...or have known he was schizophrenic," said Oliver.
Oliver confirms that the man who stabbed the victims was a current resident at the shelter.
