Mills County homeowners to get update on flood-damaged property status

GLENWOOD, Iowa (WOWT) -- Mills County Emergency Management has scheduled an Information Meeting for flood affected homeowners in Mills County to learn more about the possibility of Demolition and Voluntary Acquisition (Buyout)/Demolition.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Glenwood High School Auditorium.

The Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is providing an expert to review the program and answer audience questions. FEMA will also be present to discuss Individual Assistance Programs and Direct Housing. A representative from SBA will be available to answer any questions from the audience.

Governmental entities such as the City of Pacific Junction and the Mills County Board of Supervisors are eligible to submit applications to participate in the Acquisition/Demolition Mitigation Program.

Authorities say it is important that these entities and the eligible homeowners fully understand the program requirements so informed decisions can be made.

Information about the program is available on the Mills County Flood Website
